Growing up, I was very much into delving into new worlds and stories through music, shows, movies, and video games. Indulging in these media was and still is my favorite pastime. While experiencing these, I’d imagine myself living in those worlds and striving to be just as empowered as the characters I was following. I didn’t want to be them; I wanted to feel like them. I sought to feel important, like I had power to change the lives of the ones around me. I wished to be strong by standing up against wrongs, to speak my thoughts, to show weakness, to be vulnerable and broken, and feel no shame. I was striving to feel like a bigger and more empowered version of myself. Within my work, I ensure the subjects convey those same sentiments so that it can be illustrated that everyone can feel like their most empowered selves, not just in a fictional world but within our own reality. This is all built up with my specific use of vibrancy and cinematic framing to create a moment for the viewer.
